SANKOFA - "REACHING BACK TO GO FORWARD SUCCESSFULLY"

Omenala-Griot Afrocentic Teaching  Museum

337 Dargan Pl. SW
Atlanta, Georgia 30310

This subsidiary of the African American Mutual Support Associates, Inc. (AAMSA, Inc.), is designed to research African-American history and culture, to collect artifacts, documents, records etc. and to develop instructional vehicles to inculcate the resulting findings in the children and adults of the African American community primarily and secondarily, other interested groups.

Omenala-Griot Afrocentric Teaching Museum offers visitors a “hands-on" African American experience.  Its methodology involves seeing, hearing, saying touching and doing.  This is a product orientated “you are there” approach.  Omenala-Griot’s goal is to rectify, reclaim and restore the contributions of Black people throughout history, which have been denied, ignored and omitted.

Ours is a big task.  We hope to raise the self-esteem of African American children by exposing them to the truth of their history and culture.

Tours by appointment only: Phone 404-630-6631 and email narvard175@yahoo.com.
